El Vallenato


Vallenato is a musical genre indigenous to the Caribbean coast, with its epicenter in the former province of Padilla (present south of La Guajira, Cesar north and east of Magdalena) and an important variable in the savanna region of the departments of Bolivar, Sucre and Cordoba. Its popularity has now spread to all regions of the country and neighboring countries like Venezuela, Panama and Ecuador. Traditionally interpreted with three instruments: the diatonic accordion, the guacharaca and box (small drum goat leather). The rhythms of vallenato music or air are the paseo, merengue, puya, son and the drum.
